Divisional Profile |
| QBE first established a North American presence in 1991 when QBE Investments North America set up its New York marketing office. QBE's strategy of focused diversification and the acquisitions to support this strategy set the foundation for the Americas operation of today. More than 15 years later, QBE the Americas' market expansion and niche focus philosophy continues. More than 3,000 employees now support U.S. operations. And revenue as a percentage of the total QBE Insurance Group's annual gross written premiums increased from 19 percent in 2006 to 33 percent in 2007 and an expected 40 percent in 2008. For 2007, we posted a combined ratio of 93.9. We posted a US$3.036 billion in gross written premiums, 110.8 percent higher than in 2006, due primarily to the $1.58 billion in premium writings from the Praetorian and Winterthur acquisitions in 2007. The QBE the Americas team is committed to developing and enhancing superior underwriting partnerships. We believe the continued advancement of our business strategies, broad product offerings and knowledgeable underwriters provide our partners with superior products and services to excel in the market.
